To be able to use PayPal services you must have a credit card !
- Not everyone has a valid credit card.

Those lucky to have such a card must forward the following INFORMATION
- The card number
- The type, which they would see anyway on the number
- The 3 or 4 digit SECURITY NUMBER on the back
- Plus the latest - your PIN Number !!!!!?

Is this normal ??

Any member willing to reply ?

With rampant global forgers waiting for your details, I might as well just send my credit card

Whenever you do internet banking etc. all will tell you NOT to give your PIN,
but PayPal wants more ! LOL

With hackers ready to pounce onto Paypal when they get a little more clever, a swift withdawl of $10 of 80 mil. customers makes somebody very happy ! LOL

A reminder of the title.

After years of service they decided on the 4th of August 2007 that my account was accessed by a mysterious 3rd person and thus have 'limited' my account.

They can not see their way clear to forward NZ$43 into my bank account, what a shame.

Hopefully they keep their side of the agreement to return the amount within 30 Days.

Henceforth that service can not be recommended to be understood.

Hi all,
In reply to this post paypal has now decided to 'allow me to draw' my funds that were paid to me on the 4 of August 2007.

Now paypal was drawing % interest on x amount for all this time against Y%

Beats collecting stamps LOL

I personally think it's not secure. If they do insist on sending them all my docs, they have to do something for me instead, give me some guaranty. I don't know what exactly, will think about this later ;)

Nothing is REALLY secure via the net ! We simply live with risk all our lives, the net is just another faceted invention of homo sapien sapien.

Payment scenarios forced me to use paypal again differently, so I will bless my cotton socks as long as this lasts.

I've had a lot of problems with PayPal,but it's not true, at least in Australia, that you have to have a credit card to use it. I don't have a credit card but I use PayPal, as do most people who buy my items on Ebay.

What I don't like about PayPal is, first, that Ebay obliges you to accept PayPal. This is because Ebay OWNS PayPal. Therefore Ebay makes money three times out of its sellers: when they list items, when they sell items, and when they receive payments via PayPal. (Sellers, not buyers, pay PayPal's fees.) This seems to me to be a form of market coercion which is probably against Australian law.

Second, once the volume of incoming payments goes over a certain amount (which they won't specify) - in my case my account was 'reviewed' once I had more $930 AUD in it - PayPal asks you to provide scans of several documents to prove your identity. This seems an extraordinarily low threshold. When I complained to PayPal about it they told me that it was because in such cases there was a suspicion of money laundering! But $930 is not a lot of money these days. I know people who earn this much in a week and others who pay this much for two weeks' rent. We are hardly talking the kinds of sums that would warrant a suspicion of money laundering.

Second, why is the focus on who I am? I am willing to prove my identity if there exists reasonable doubt as to whether I am who I say I am but, so far as I know, no one else is using my PayPal account and claiming to be me. Why should I have to prove my identity when there's no reason to believe that my account is being used by anyone else? What's more, even my own bank doesn't require additional proof of identity when my account balance goes over the 'identity threshold' ($750? $800? who knows?) Why should PayPal be able to demand documents proving my identity that even my own bank would not be entitled to ask for. What game are they playing?

Third, I resent the idea of providing a non-government organisation, such as PayPal, with my personal documents. They are getting a scan of my birth certificate (which is one of things they want) over my dead body!

Paypal is like a computer, when it works the way you need it to, its a blessing.

Paypal has probably also warned you that they would never ask you for details. Stick to that, anyone else asking for details is fishing NEVER GIVE details. Do not even respond to the mail.
If need be ask paypal along their contacts to confirm what was required.

These bogus Paypal sniffers are professionals and should be reported to Paypal along routes on the paypal site. anything else - hands off you only get burnt.

There are other ways or organizations to send money but all do take their bite.

No, sorry to say, this is the REAL PayPal. Not 'bogus sniffers.'

Well, then engage in some communication without giving details which they already should have.

Is there any other websites that offer what paypal is offering but with a more secure system?

Nothing over the internet is really secure and all are secure as they can make it.

I have never had a problem with PayPal - like every business, there will always be someone who is an unhappy customer.

Hi,
Just posting that I have never had a problem with PayPal. used it since it was conceived.
Asking for a pin number is an oddity. They never have asked for mine.
I use credit and debit cards and direct link to my bank account and have zero problems with it.
currency conversion...not a problem.

One thing that many people have a misconception on is that using this system is insecure and using a credit or debit card online is not safe.
Basically if you swipe your card at any store or business, guess what, it is "online". It is all one and the same.
That little card swiper is hooked up directly to the internet. It is the way it communicates with the hundreds of banks and credit businesses
to approve or disapprove and make payment. Sorry to say but if you feel that insecure the only sure way is to pay cash.

When dealing with PayPal always make sure you are really at their site starting with https and using www.paypal.com only at the start
of the page link shown at the top of your browser. Anything else like paypalb.com or webpaypal.com etc; is not paypal and you should
immediately leave the site.
Never follow a link through email. Always go directly to the site. A lot of phishing emails and such out there. Don't get duped!;)
