Can Anybody Help???

Does anybody know where this stamp comes from? It's not Russian (it's dated 1855, and Russia did not issue stamps until 1858), and I don't know where else to look. Please help me! James.

Let me guess..........maybe the man show at the stamp was born in the year 1855 or die in the year 1855.Hope i am right :)
